Ignitors and Extinguishers

If you are a glowing beacon of life, there are two kinds of people you
attract. Ignitors and extinguishers.

Ignitors—Those who want to help fan your flame and support your ignition
and launch in the world. They want to see you succeed and move barriers just to
watch you shine. These people are your mentors, family and they see something
very special in you; often when you don’t see it in yourself.  Ignitors
want to follow you into battle and are there to prop you up when you stumble
and fall.  They feed you energy and air when you are exhausted and in your
moment of doubt, ignitors say what you need to hear. The world needs more
ignitors.

Then….

Extinguishers— those who wish to smother your flame. They see what you
have or what you represent and feel the need to snuff out your fire and keep
you at their level.  Extinguishers fear your energy and message. Although
those extinguishers can come in the form of friends or even relatives, deep
down they are cancer to your system. They are darkness and will drain you if
you let them. They will dispose of you after they get all of the selfless
nourishment you provided them.  As much as it may hurt, you have to cut
ties with these people or you will never burn your brightest. Flames never roar
when there’s no inspiration encouraging the spark. The world has too many
extinguishers.

Remember, the right thing is often the most painful thing to do. Sometimes
you are forced to take steps that are necessary for your health and emotional
wellbeing. Often, the world and circumstances help to make that decision for
you.

Life will put you through fire so you are strong enough for what’s
next.  It will often do this to protect you from the storm and deeper pain
that is soon to come. #Tryharder to trust the process, and no matter how
difficult, don’t ask “why”.  It’s going to take a while before you get
that answer, but know that this experience will put you exactly where you need
to be in life.
